The Eight Parts of Speech

 

            Kids today can name eight rock groups, eight TV shows or eight brands of candy one heck of a lot faster than they can come up with the eight parts of speech. Find ways to work with them so that the fundamentals of our language will become second nature, and make the writing process a little less mysterious and a little more systematic.

 

            Here they are:

 

            Noun

 

            Verb

 

            Pronoun

           

            Adjective

 

            Adverb

 

            Preposition

 

            Conjunction

 

            Interjection

 

            A student should be able to define each one, list a few examples, and use one in a sentence.
